Days and hours will vary, paid monthly.DescriptionWork Schedule:May be assigned up 40 hours per week, based on hiringclassificationAs a member of the Parks, Recreation and Culture team, incumbents in thisposition perform a variety of housekeeping, room setups and facilitymaintenance duties related to the Community Recreation Center, PoliceDepartment and Culture facilities.Incumbents in the position are required to perform work in a manner consistentwith and exemplary of the town's PRIDE philosophies and the town's EqualOpportunity Employment policy.SUPERVISION EXERCISEDNo supervisory responsibilities or control exercised.SUPERVISION RECEIVEDIncumbents work under the direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor tocarry out assigned duties, functions, roles, and projects in bothroutine and complex circumstances.Essential job FunctionsThe incumbents in the Custodian role are assigned specific assignments, jobduties, scope, authority, responsibility, roles and requirements asdetermined by the town, department, division, and pursuant to laws,regulation and practices. Incumbents in this position must be able tosuccessfully perform, be responsible for, and/or assist in thefulfillment of many job functions and duties, with or without reasonableaccommThe following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primaryfunctions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive:Housekeeping / Facility MaintenanceMaintains the cleanliness and maintenance of the Community RecreationCenter, Police Department and Culture facilities.Duties include, but are not limited to: cleaning bathrooms, meetingrooms and other facility locations including fixtures, furniture andequipment.Manage set up/tear down of rentalsContinually inspects facility to ensure proactive/preventative maintenanceand inspects the facility for safety and cleanliness. Checks and locks alldoors and verifies the security of the building. Activates alarm system. Keepsdocumented records of findings for supervisor.Properly cleans and maintains custodial equipment and supplies. Properly usescleaning chemicals and custodial equipment.Interacts in an appropriate and diplomatic manner with facility staff membersand the general public.Performs a variety of routine building maintenance duties including paintingthe interior of buildings and minor repairs.Clean and sanitize restroom facilities and fixtures including sinks, urinalsand toilets. Replenish supplies in restrooms. Sweep, vacuum, mop, wax,strip and polish floors.Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures and equipment. Wash windowsand walls. Clean desks and counter tops. Empty and clean waste receptacles.Replace lights and adjust shades and blinds. Clean air vents as required.Ensures compliance with all town safety rules and regulations.Replenishes supplies for restrooms, kitchen and other common work areas.OTHER DUTIESDepending on organizational need, additional duties may include the following:May be involved in special projects and employee committee activities that aredirectly or indirectly related to essential job functions. Performs relatedduties as established by law/ordinance or reasonably directed by the town.Consistently work safely, report and address safety concerns in a timelymanner.Takes responsibility for working safely and encouraging safe work practices.Assists other town departments, as necessary.Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesAbility to read and write is essential.Ability to perform simple addition, subtraction and multiplicationAbility to interpret written and/or instructions, diagrams or schedule forms.Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.Ability to receive, understand, and take positive and appropriate actionfrom information/instructions verbally and/or in writing.Ability to appropriately communication or request information regardingprojects to and/or from requestors.Ability to follow and enforce town policies and guidelines.Ability to remain flexible in dealing
