North Suburban leads the north Denver area in qualityratings and is one of just two hospitals in the state of Colorado to be nameda Top Performer on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission each of thelast five years.Position Summary: * The Histology Technologist provides quality service, in a mannertimely for neonates through adolescence, and the adult and geriatricpatients in the Laboratory in compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, and CLIAStandards. * He/she functions within the philosophy, policies and procedures ofNorth Suburban Medical Center, Inc., and represents the hospital withinand outside the organization with a general feeling of positive support. * A thorough understanding and application of the Histo-TechnologyPractice are essential due to the intense field of critical patient testing. * Therefore, the Laboratory employees must continuously strive toimprove clinical testing, confidence and knowledge through formal andinformal education, and knowledge of age-related (neonates,pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics) quality of patient care. POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Licensure/Certification/Registration:ASCP Registry for Histo Technology, or eligible ASCP candidate, orequivalent experience.Education:Two years training in a Histology Training Program/ASCP preferred.Experience:Must have thorough knowledge of methods and procedures for fixing,cutting, and embedding tissue sections; cutting properties of varioustypes of tissues; staining procedures; methods of mounting sections formicroscopic examination; the use of various types of microtomes and otherhistology equipment.
