Reporting to the Manager, Retail Operations Accounting, the Agency Accountant is responsible for the accounting and reconciliation of all agency product activity including monthly GL reconciliations, journal entries, research & validation, tracking of cash receipts, inventory reconciliations with agency partners, evaluation and reporting for North America.

Key Tasks:

  • Month end entries to record agency accruals and commission activity

  • Reconcile and monitor assigned balance sheet accounts

  • Coordinate with suppliers, retail branches and accounts payable to assist in invoice coding and supplier account reconciliation

  • Track and allocate agency liability owed compared to Supplier invoices received during the year to ensure proper accounting treatment and all monies are collected

  • Provide direction to retail branches on proper agency accounting procedures

  • Work with procurement managers to obtain information for product changes, price notification to the field and agency commission accrual setup

  • Complete system updates required for product changes

  • Run reports from multiple system sources and reconcile to P&L’s for month end reporting

  • Complete monthly and annual inventory reconciliations with vendors in accordance with agency agreements

  • Special projects and other duties as assigned by Management

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in bueinss related field from a recognized institution (Accounting or Finance preferred)

  • 1-3 years of accounting experience

  • Knowledge of the retail agriculture business is considered an asset
