We are dedicated to recognizing associate's individualstrengths where employees can attain personal satisfaction in their work whilepromoting a team oriented atmosphere.POSITION SUMMARY:Prepares portions and serves a variety of baked goods and desserts fromscratch, according to production plans and standardized recipes, inaccordance with current federal, state, and Balfour Retirement Communitystandards.Shifts: Day shift, full time (30-40 hours per week)ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Interacts with residents, families, staff, and other visitors to thecommunity in a pleasant, respectful, and courteous mannerCheck production schedule to determine variety and quantity of baked goodsneededCreation of baked goods by following recipes or may develop new recipesRoll, cut, and shape dough to form rolls, pie crusts, tarts, cookiesand related productsEnsures proper bakes and cooking timeKnowledgeable of the use, care and sanitation of various kitchen equipmentStores and disposes of food according to policies and proceduresResponsible for participating in and supporting resident activity programsAttends all in-service education programs mandated by Balfour RetirementCommunity, state and federal guidelinesParticipates and assists in departmental meetings and projects as assignedPrepares food in accordance with sanitary regulations, as well asestablished policies and proceduresAssists in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance withestablished policies and proceduresAssists in maintaining food storage and work areas in a clean, sanitary,and orderly manner at all timesAssures that equipment is maintained in safe working order and reports allhazardous conditions/equipment and accidents to the Culinary DirectorDemonstrates knowledge of infection and exposure control and adheres to safefood handling proceduresQUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & SKILLS REQUIRED:High school diploma or equivalencyCulinary Arts training or institutional cooking/baking experience preferredMinimum 3 years restaurant baking or bakery experienceExperience with gluten and sugar free baking preferredAble to operate various food service equipmentWilling to work around odors and extreme temperatures in kitchen/storageareas.QMAP certified, or will obtain in 90 daysBasic reading and writing skills and ability to speak EnglishAbility to read thermometers, charts, and testing equipmentPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and squat for prolonged periodsAbility to push/pull objects and lift/carry up to 20 pounds unassisted ona frequent basis (occasionally up to 50 pounds, unassisted)Willing to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and in otherpositions temporarily, when necessarBALFOUR BENEFITS:Our FT Associates are eligible for Full Benefits (Health Insurance, Dentaland Vision), 401k, Flex Spending and Health Savings Accounts, acompetitive PTO (vacation and sick time) package and more.Eligible for $2000/year in Tuition Reimbursement after 6 months ofemployment if classes are relevant to industry (Senior Living).Referral Bonuses
