About our group:This position resides within the larger Seagate VLSI organization. Withcustom silicon for all Seagate products developed by the VLSI team, there isample opportunity to cross pollinate and develop new skills via yourinteractions with subject matter experts across multiple functionaldisciplinesAbout the role - you will:You will work on a variety of projects, ranging from silicon development todesign and verification of power distribution systems for HDD products.Silicon development activities center on the design, specification andvalidation of integrated power electronics including three-phase motordrivers, data converters and voltage regulators. On the power distributionfront, end-to-end voltage budget analyses will be the primary focus.Voltage budgeting is a detail oriented process whereby an entire distributionsystem consisting of voltage regulators, printed circuit board and receivingelectronics is simulated to ensure critical voltage constraints will besatisfied in volume production. In this role, you will take full ownershipof the voltage budget process:Work closely with stakeholders to identify key voltage constraints andgenerate component modelsCreate simulation environment with emphasis on model abstraction and reusePerform initial simulations to highlight issues and potential areas forimprovementCollaborate with stakeholders to obtain consensus on improvements and updatemodels accordinglyContinue simulating and updating models until all voltage constraints aresatisfiedGenerate documentation detailing results and apprise stakeholdersAbout you:Possess strong grasp of fundamental analog principlesSelf starter and self motivatedDemonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teamsYour experience includes:Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or other related degree.Analog background with relevant coursework and / or experience in thefollowing areas desired:Motor drive principlesVoltage regulator (switching and linear) analysis and modelingSpice circuit modeling experienceSimulating voltage regulators to determine stability and transient responseUsing behavioral Spice constructs to create abstracted sub-circuitsImporting text files for use as piecewise linear stimulusPost processing simulation results to extract desired dataFamiliarity with one or more of the following a plusFilter analysis and designControl systemsPCB designLow voltage power distribution systemsAbility to prepare presentations using Microsoft tool suite (Excel,Word, PowerPoint, Visio)Strong written and verbal communication skillsHands on knowledge of common test equipment (oscilloscope, functiongenerator, network analyzer, etc.)Location:Our Longmont product-design campus is nestled against the foothills withexceptional views of the Rocky Mountains.
