We offer compassionate care through our patient-centered programs,which include everything from our adult and pediatric ERs and comprehensiveCancer Center to a focus on pregnancy and childbirth in our Birth Place aswell as specialized care in our Spine and Total Joint Center and Women sHospital. * This position supports the mission of Sky Ridge Medical Center byoptimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond thetraditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. * Under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor, the LaboratoryAssistant has primary responsibility for the efficient organization andeffectiveness of the specimen procurement, receipt and processing area. * The employee will provide services addressing age-related techniques inspecimen collection and care focusing on neonates, pediatrics,adolescents, adults, and geriatric populations. * This involves greeting patients within Sky Ridge Medical Center,answering the telephone, answering questions regarding specimen collectionand time elements, interfacing between other hospitals, hospitaldepartments, physicians, medical offices and reference laboratories,obtaining blood specimens, providing quality service, and performinggeneral laboratory duties. * When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Phlebotomy Certification preferredEducation: Completion of a Certified Phlebotomy program preferred.Experience: Experience in a hospital laboratory is desired, but notnecessary.Special Qualifications: The Laboratory Assistant must have good customerservice and communication skills. Basic computer skills are needed.Degree of supervision required: Involves general guidance and direction bythe Director of the Laboratory, Laboratory Assistant Supervisor, and/orother Laboratory Coordinator/Supervisors.
