Job Title: RN PsychLocation: Littleton, CODuration: 4+months (extension possibility)Shift Time: Day Shift (7:00am-7:30pm) and Night Shift (7:00pm-7:30am).Job Description:Duties:The below is intended to describe the general content of the requirements ofthe performance in this position.It is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of duties,responsibilities, or requirements.The Registered Nurse provide safe and effective nursing care in the assignedarea(s) in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of theHospital and within the framework of established policies and procedures ofthe Department of Nursing Services.As a key team member in the clinical area, the Registered Nurse promote aclimate of effective performance and learning through role modelling,willingness to learn and teach, and availability to patients and staff.The Registered Nurse organizes and coordinates unit nursing services onassigned shift as delegated by Nursing Administration.Essential Functions:Delivers patient care in an acute psychiatric setting for patientsexperiencing a wide range of psychiatric conditions.Provides continuous nursing care for patients utilizing the nursing processwithin the scope of practice.Executes nursing procedures according to policy after demonstratingproficiency.Interacts with and assists in teaching patients.Plans and leads patient groups.Serves as a clinical resource person for staff members in their dailyactivities.Documents pertinent information accurately, timely and legibly.Performs duties as a charge nurse when assigned.Performs duties as a medication nurse when assigned.Responsibilities:Charge Nurse:Supervises and delegates to staff in manner that maximizes each staffmember's strengths and skill Takes the lead and makes assignments in codesituations.Acts as a positive role model for peers and those under their supervision.Med Nurse:Administers and inventories medications and supplies and coordinates withpharmacy to meet patient needs.Transcribes physician orders onto the MARS.Checks patient blood sugars.Performs CIWA and COWS protocols.Skills:Must be able to perform concentrated and/or complex mental activity withfrequent involvement in complex and/or highly technical situations.Must be able to work successfully under highly stressful conditions.Must be able to make sound, independent judgments based on scientificand/or ethical principles.Must be able to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions andprocedures.Must be able to collaborate with other multidisciplinary team members in anappropriate fashion.Must be capable of adapting to varying workloads and work assignments on aconstant basis.Must have effective comprehensive reading skills, strong communicationskills, written and verbal.Must have math skills to enable calculation of drug dosages and infusionrates.Charge Nurses must have the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrateleadership ability.Education:BLS from AHA - Required Clinical experience in standalone BH psychiatricsetting preferred. - Highly desired Handle with Care (will train) - Highlydesired Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.Required must have a current, valid RN license form the State of Coloradoand must be in good standing with the Board of Nursing.Required Skills:CMS.PATIENT CARE.PROBLEM RESOLUTION.Additional Skills:STRONG COMMUNICATION SKILLS.TEACHING.TRAINING.CHARTING.CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.EXCELLENT WRITTEN AND VERBAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS PHARMACY SECURITYTRANSCRIBES.Certifications and Licenses:RNRN licenseBLS
