The Health Care Specialist performs equipment setups in a timely andprofessional manner. This employee is generally responsible for the setup ofhighly technical equipment such as ventilators, monitors, and CPAP units.The Health Care Specialist also provides technical assistance with equipmentand may end up performing setup of all types of oxygen equipment as well. * Provides patient education as an intricate part of the patient careactivity according to the patient's need and Lincare policy, frequently inthe patient's home * Requires use of a personal vehicle with a valid driver's license * Performs complete and professional patient assessments in accordancewith Lincare policies and procedures * Maintains current knowledge of respiratory homecare techniques andrelevant respiratory therapy concepts * Follows applicable policies and procedures of the Safety .and.Regulatory Manual regarding General Safety, OSHA (includes the proper useof Personal Protective Equipment), DOT (driving safety), FDA, andEmergency Pla * Represents Lincare through professional personal appearance,patient care activities, and content of written reports * Facilitates prescription collection * Maintains patient records incomplete and organized manner incompliance with accreditation standards * Work on-call evenings and weekends on an as scheduled basis * Frequency is determined by the center size and the number of employeesavailable to share in the responsibility * Must respond in a timely manner * Level 1 - Familiar with equipment and services provided in the homehealth care setting, or other experience in patient care * Level 2 - Minimum of two years experience in home health care * Level 3 - Minimum of three years experience in home health care * May be involved in the training of other Health care Specialists * Must have excellent human relations skills to interface withdoctors, other referral sources, and patients * Must be computer literate * Must have completed all training/education required to obtainrequisite certification, registration, and/or license described below * Must be a clinician authorized within his/her scope of practice(as established by applicable state law or if none, by the applicablenational board) to provide all patient care services offered by Lincare fromtime to time * Must remain certified, registered, or licensed by the applicablestate and/or national board governing his/her clinical practice or asotherwise permitted by law * In all states CRTs and RRTs are qualified for this position * Subject to state law/regulation RNs, LPNs, LVNs, paramedics,EMTs, and other clinicians may also be qualified for this position * If applicable, based on the requirements of the state, in additionto a valid state license, the current National Board of Respiratory CareCredentials may also be required for CRTs and RRTs * Subject to State requirements and management approval, Candidatesmay be hired who do not meet all the above certifications and training, butpractice respiratory therapy as authorized by applicable state law * must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionallylift and/or move more than 50 poundsLincare is an equal opportunity employer, access and affirmative actionemployer.
