Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)

Annual Salary Range: $45,700 - $73,000

Offers will typically be made in the bottom half of the listed range. NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. Job Description

Under limited supervision, work cross-functionally in a complex receiving, distribution, stockroom and shipping operation. Inspect, accept, process and document all inbound and outbound shipments within the receiving and or shipping role. Ensuring the safe transportation of all shipments/packages throughout the laboratory (Onsite and Offsite) are met in accordance with DOT, Federal motor carrier safety regulations and Transportation safety manual within the distribution role. Perform stock-checks, replenish stockroom inventory and pull stockroom orders as part of the stockroom functions/responsibilities. Other related duties include supporting an offsite warehouse as operational needs dictates.

General:

  • Interact daily with FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL and local vendors

  • Assist in loading and unloading of inbound and outbound shipments, including transfers

  • Operate warehouse equipment such as Forklifts, pallet trucks/jacks, dock plates etc.

  • Perform inter-organizational management of USPS mail and interoffice mail service

  • Collect and return items of excess property on behalf of Property Management

  • Perform delivery duties as assigned or directed

  • Comply with workplace safety and material handling requirements

  • Screen goods and equipment for accountable property and coordinate further actions with other members of the Government Property team

  • Perform process self-assessments in accordance with personal property program

  • Input and extract data from computer-based Oracle cost accounting system

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Lead/Manager

  • Maintain 49 CFR/IATA dangerous goods certification

Receiving

  • Performs all receiving duties including receiving of hazardous materials

  • Conducts reporting discrepancies in relations to inbound shipments

  • Audit order details against package contents

  • Prepare receiving reports and update receiving manifest

  • Reconcile split, incomplete or incorrect receipts

  • Stages received items on loading docks corresponding with distribution route

  • Prepares end of day reports and maintains a safe and clean working area

Distribution

  • Deliver all packages assigned to route throughout the laboratory including Haz Materials

  • Pick, load and transfer packages including hazardous materials

  • Build documentation package for transport of hazardous materials

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspection of commercial motor vehicles and report any issues

  • Document each delivery event and obtain signature for all deliveries

  • Ensures vehicle/truck cabin and bed are kept clean from debris

Shipping

  • Prepares all outbound shipments including hazardous materials

  • Coordinates with property management to ensure all outbound property equipment(s) are processed accurately

  • Determine proper packaging, handling, storage and transportation methods

  • Prepare shipping documents (Air-bill, BOL, SLI, Shipping labels, etc.)

  • Schedule pick-up and provide tracking information to shipper and consignee accordingly

  • Maintain inventory on all shipping supplies and a safe and clean working area

Stockroom/Lab Store

  • Ensure and sign off on all items pulled by NREL staff and verify products and counts

  • Pull and stage stockroom orders for delivery

  • Interact and assist with inventory questions or product information from NREL staff

  • Assist with stockroom inventory

  • Verify, accept and document incoming inventory

  • Coordinate with Lead/Manager on ordering out of stock items/back-orders

Basic Qualifications

Specialist II- High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 or more years of related experience.

Specialist III- High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 or more years of related experience.Or, relevant Associate's Degree and 2 or more years of related experience.

Additional Required Qualifications

  • Level III Qualifications: Must hold and maintain a CDL license with a hazardous material endorsement to be qualified for a Level III.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 49 CFR/IATA dangerous goods certification
