Bowman Consulting Group Construction Observer - Golden, CO in Golden, Colorado
Bowman Consulting , located in Golden, CO is looking to hire an experienced Construction Observer to perform construction management services for various municipal, commercial, and private clients.
Our exceptional candidate should possess experience performing materials testing and construction inspections on Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) highway projects. The ideal candidate will possess or will be able to attain minimum training and certification in:
Basic Highway Math (CDOT)
Basic Construction Surveying (CDOT)
Basic Highway Plan Reading (CDOT)
Storm Water Management & Control (CDOT)
Design & Operation of Work Zone Traffic – Colorado Contractor’s Association (CCA)
The Construction Observer will be assigned tasks and duties to assist the project staff and provide support to the project team by inspecting and documenting the construction activities as assigned. In addition, the following tasks can be expected as specific assignments:
Review and understand construction plans and specifications to assure the contractor is contractually compliant
Submit daily diary at end of working day accounting for the contractor’s construction activities observed
Participate in weekly progress meetings or any other project related meeting as required
Secure project documentation from the contractor and file in project records
Perform initial, follow-up, and final inspections of work in progress including documentation and measurement for payment
Observe and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with contract plans and specifications
Monitor Traffic Control Plan (TCP) and proper installation of traffic control devices per the Method of Handling Traffic (MHT)
Assure the contractor is following the Safety Plan and not creating an unsafe work environment
Coordinate and monitor materials testing requirements
Assist in the correspondence and communications with the contractor, client, local agencies, and the general traveling public
Assist with the final As-Constructed Plans and project final documentation
Deliver material samples to appropriate designated testing laboratories
Perform miscellaneous project & construction related engineering duties as required by the position, the client or their supervisor.
High School diploma or GED
1-3 years’ experience working as a Construction Inspector or Materials Technician
Excellent written and oral communications
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Experience using computer software like Microsoft Windows, Excel, & Adobe Acrobat Reader
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
