About The Site
The Spindle Hill Energy Center is a 314 MW simple cycle power plant using GE’s 7FA gas turbine platform.
The O&M Manager directs an employee team in the operation and maintenance of the Spindle Hill Energy Center a 314 MW Spindle Hill Energy Center - located in Fort Lupton, CO. The O&M Manager is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Spindle Hill Energy Center in a safe, cost effective, reliable, and environmentally acceptable manner which meets or exceeds customer expectations. This position provides leadership and direction to an operations and maintenance staff of approximately five (5) personnel. The O&M Manager is directly accountable to the Regional Plant Director for assigned resources, assets, and position responsibilities.
Direct activity to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, prudent business practices and in accordance with all power sales agreements.
Develop annual O&M and capital budgets. Manage expenditures within the limits of approved plans and budgets.
Manage safety and emergency preparedness efforts to provide for a safe work environment. Ensure that appropriate procedures and policies are in place, and that employees are properly trained in responding to medical, fire, and storm emergencies; hazardous material handling and disposal; fuel spill response; and other safety procedures.
Manage operations to provide for compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, requirements, and limitations.
Develop, implement and manage the plants FERC/NERC compliance policies, programs and procedures.
Provide direction and coordinate activities to maintain compliance of plant protective systems with FERC/NERC requirements. Interface with contractors and plant personnel to schedule and facilitate testing, inspections, and documentation for plant equipment.
Implement and administer the site computerized maintenance management system (EAM), coordinate the identification of critical spare part procurement, manage inventory in a manner consistent with plant needs.
Organize plant warehouse and order initial tools, materials, consumables and spare parts inventory. Perform routine audits of spare parts and materials as per plant procedures.
Manage equipment operation and maintenance plans, schedules, and procedures to optimize equipment performance, availability, and reliability.
Direct major maintenance identification, planning, budgeting, and execution to produce the minimum life cycle cost while achieving maximum equipment performance and reliability.
Provide and manage systems including; work management, accounting, materials management, records, and administrative systems necessary for efficient operation.
Administer and maintain training programs and systems for the development, maintenance, and enhancement of operating employee skills necessary for accomplishing complete operation and maintenance activities. Coordinate the necessary training for administrative personnel. Provide for career development for all personnel.
Provide for the security of personnel, physical assets, and site.
Develop and maintain an atmosphere of employee involvement, trust, and motivation through employee participation, empowerment, work teams, and multi-skilling. Provide for a culture which is flexible and adaptable to change and which strives for continuous improvement in the accomplishment of work.
Lead by example in all areas, ensuring standards are maintained with regard to personnel and safety, stewardship of the plant, equipment availability, and team work.
Develop, train and supervise O&M Techs to ensure a qualified staff is in place to operate and maintain the station.
Serve as the primary contact for and represent Invenergy with the local communities. Actively participate and take a leadership role in civic activities.
Manage operations to comply with a power purchase agreement with current off taker. This includes interfacing directly and following all contractual requirements.

Minimum of six (6) years experience in the power generation industry.
Knowledge of operations and maintenance of combustion turbine and auxiliaries is essential.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
