Description of Work Unit

The Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology (MIP) Department is comprised of over 400 individuals who share a common passion for solving some of the most important human and animal health problems today. Research programs include those related to mycobacteria, retroviruses, prions, zoonotic and arthropod-borne infectious diseases, as well as the diagnostic investigation of naturally-occurring animal diseases. A leader in education, MIP provides the only microbiology undergraduate degree program in Colorado, a graduate program that provides training in a number of cutting-edge disciplines, and several specialized veterinary residency training programs.

Position Summary

Our group welcomes application to a postdoctoral opportunity for a highly motivated and collaborative individual who is capable of independent reasoning and excited about learning new technologies. The candidate should have excellent writing and communication skills and have familiarity with basic immunology techniques such as multi-color flow cytometry, cell isolation, cell culture, ELISA, ELISPOT, as well as, RT-PCR, molecular cloning and animal (mouse) handling. Interest or expertise in managing/analyzing large data sets microbiome analysis is also desirable. The successful candidate will participate in the development of a lactic acid bacteria vaccine platform and application against rotaviruses, coronaviruses, HIV and tumors. Additionally, the candidate will gain experience in the fields of mucosal immunology and the mucosal microbiome The laboratory is located in the Infectious Disease Research Center at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO and is a dynamic mix of PhD and undergraduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and experienced technicians. Required Job Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD, MD/PhD, PharmD/PhD or DVM/PhD in the areas of microbiology and/or immunology. The successful candidate will possess a strong work ethic, excellent organizational and communication skills, knowledge of standard computer applications, and the ability to work productively as a member of a large and diverse research team.
