U.S. Army Medical Command Nurse (Clinical/Ambulatory) in Fort Carson, Colorado

Summary About the Position: This position is located at the Department of Primary Care, Robinson Clinic, which is a part of Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson Medical Department Activity of the US Army Medical Command. Responsibilities Ensure nursing staff competencies are evaluated, maintained and documented in accordance with hospital and clinic policies and the Nursing standards of practice. Make psychosocial assessment of patients to identify significant cultural practices, the ability to understand and cooperate and expectations of care and coping mechanisms. Instruct and demonstrate to patients how to provide self-care. Assist with clinic orientation, and one-on-one patient, educational activities related to acute or chronic illnesses, self-care, wellness/preventive health measures and normal development and physiology. Perform independent, comprehensive telephone and clinical triaging and facilitate care coordination through a multidisciplinary approach. Basic Requirement for Nurse (Clinical/Ambulatory):Degree: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination and possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Experience Requirements: Specialized experience for this position is defined as one year of experience providing ambulatory nursing care (such as triage, screening or pain management), reviewing medical records, administering medications and providing patient or staff education.
