Public Affairs brings together teams responsible for engaging with the company's stakeholders. Teams within Public Affairs include: Corporate Communications, Corporate Philanthropy and Community Relations; Government Relations and Public Policy; Platform and Digital Services; Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility and Public Affairs Chief Operating Office.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, Finance & Insights for Social Impact & Sustainability, this highly visible position will be a part of the Operations & Insights Center of Excellence and identify and monitor all financial grant processes and budgets while leading a team that oversees all aspects of the grant life cycle including: pre and post decisioning; ensuring appropriate governance and oversight of processes and procedures. This manager will establish grant-making and investment guidelines.

This highly visible position can be located in Charlotte, NC; Minneapolis, MN; Phoenix, AZ; St. Louis, MO; Denver, CO. Other Wells Fargo locations may be considered.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide strategic insights to Head of Operations, Finance and Insights to inform guidance for the operation of the Wells Fargo Foundation including grant processes and evaluations, analyze data to inform Social Impact and Sustainability (SIS) leadership team including the creations of standardized executive presentation materials. Monitor grant activity, approve grant requests, and serve as subject matter expert with legal, compliance, SIS leadership on program-specific requests.

  • Partner with control executive team to complete ongoing Business Process Mapping, followed by testing by Enterprise Testing and Validation

  • Establish annual foundation budgets, monitor, and forecast Foundation spend, Work with Parent Accounting on a monthly basis to provide check register and transaction report so they can perform reconciliations

  • Analyze data provided by insights and analytics to inform future grant funding decisions, operational efficiencies, and programmatic spend.

  • Work with control executive team to identify and resolve emerging operational risks, control gaps, and/or potential reputational risks associated with grants management systems, processes, and procedures.

  • Seek opportunities to advance storytelling and best position executives and company

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: business support, project management, implementation, business operations or strategic planning

  • 4+ years of management experience

  • 4+ years of financial grant management experience, financial grant administration experience, or a combination of both

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Experience developing end to end large scale financial grant processes

  • Experience managing a grant portfolio with a multi-million dollar budget

  • Experience with international, state, federal, and/or state-local funding guidelines and impeccable reputation with regards to ethics and integrity

  • Experience with Cybergrants (or other grant technology platforms)

  • Experience leading, high-performing geographically dispersed, cross-functional diverse teams

  • Excellent organizational leadership and interpersonal skills

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
