(RTD) The Regional Transportation District Signal Maintainer (Commuter Rail) in Denver, Colorado

The role of Signal Maintainer is an important link between ensuring complianceto FRA regulations and customer satisfaction while achieving the safest mostefficient railroad operations. This position is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair,installation and alteration of the signal system; which includes CTC, ATCand PTC systems. Signal Maintainers are primarily responsible for performing FRA regulatorytest and inspection of the signals systems. He / she will also install,repair and maintain various equipment such as signals lights, switchmachines, electrical switch locks, switch circuit controllers as well ascrossing warning devices. This is a safety sensitive position subject to the rules and regulations ofthe RTD FRA Drug and Alcohol policy.Qualifications:Two year vocational certificate, or AA degree in Electrical Electronic orElectro/Mechanical Technology.FRA Qualified Signal Maintainer preferred but Certified Signal/Power,Signal or Traction Power, or Track Maintainer from other rail modes will beconsidered.Prior FRA-regulated railroad operating experience preferred with a workhistory that demonstrates the ability to maintain alertness, awareness andvigilance, as well as clear, effective verbal communication skills in theperformance of work.In accordance with FRA regulations, applicant driver's license mustprovide a certified copy of motor vehicle driving record and must be void ofany drug and alcohol violations within the previous 36 months.Ability to obtain and retain a thorough understanding of all the RegionalTransportation District Commuter Rail's Roadway Worker Protection procedureswhich are in effect.A minimum of five years of experience working with Micro-Processors withproficiency in electrical technology for a high voltage system.Successful completion of a Signal Training Program provided by RTD orsponsored by a qualified organization and ability to re-certify on a periodicbasis.Demonstrated ability to read and understand plans, blueprints,schematics, operation and service manuals, and other written instructions.Must be physically capable of performing all job functions. Must haveknowledge of first aid and safety practices.Must pass a mechanical/electrical skills examination with a minimum score of80%.Demonstrated ability to maintain a high performance level of dependability,reliability and safety.No DUI, DWI, or reckless driving in the past 5 yearsValid Colorado Motor Vehicle Driver License.Ability to work under tight schedules and deadlines while maintaining systemquality and reliabilityAbility to pass a required Physical Ability Assessment (PAA) related tothe physical requirements of the essential functions of the job.Application - www.rtd-denver.com/careers
