Work is expected to result in thedevelopment of new/improved techniques and procedures or new/refinedequipment, materials, processes, products, and/or scientificmethods. Represents the organization as the prime technical contact oncontracts and projects and interacts with senior external personnel onsignificant technical matters often requiring coordination betweenorganizations. Work is performed without appreciable direction andconsiderable latitude is exercised in determining technical objectives ofassignment. Guidance relates largely to overall objectives, criticalissues, new concepts and policy matters. Completed work is reviewed from arelatively long- term perspective, for desired results. May assign tasks toand direct engineers, technicians, craft personnel and administrativestaff, including coordination and review of work assignments. Responsiblefor (and may lead) multiple projects of moderate to large size or portionsof major projects. Designs and maintain control systems for compressorstations and gas plants, experience with ladder logic programming forPLC's, GE and Allen Bradley preferred is preferred, programming ofRTU's (Fisher ROC and Bristol Babcock) is preferred. Experience withcommunications transfer to SCADA or DCS is preferred (Oasys, Citect orDelta V). Background in commissioning of control systems is preferred forthis position. Up to 50% travel within the state of Colorado.Essential ResponsibilitiesApplies extensive technical expertise and has an understanding of the basicprincipals of other related disciplines. Fully demonstrates the uniquetechnical skills and core competencies for this engineering level by applyingtechnical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques tolead projects of moderate to large size, scope and complexity.Largely self-directed work is expected to result in the development of new orimproved techniques, procedures and standards. Supports the development oftechnical documentation (including but not limited to designs, testing,calculations, reports, standards, etc.)Without appreciable direction exercises considerable latitude in determiningongoing technical support for project activities within areas such asOperations, Maintenance, Testing/diagnostics and Regulatory. Providesfield engineering oversight and direction for activities such as support ,testing, installation, inspections, commissioning etc.Coordinates/leads multiple projects or portions of projects (includingphases such as research, design, equipment selection, procurement,installation and commissioning). May lead more critical projects withoversight of a higher level engineer or supervisor.Represents the organization as the prime technical contact in thebid/evaluation processes including preparation of bid documents,completion of technical evaluations for proposals and providingrecommendations for selection.
