Paramedic (Job ID: 4018)Job Summary:Under general supervision, provides advanced life support and pre-hospitalemergency medical care to patients who are ill and/or injured withinestablished protocol and medical direction. Transports and transfers patientsand assesses the extent of an illness or injury to establish and prioritizemedical procedures to follow. Performs other emergency medical proceduresduring the ambulance transport. Performs testing of emergency equipment andmaintains supplies. Provides pre-arrival notifications to receiving EmergencyDepartments, and communicates with Paramedic Dispatchers.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Able to determine nature and extent of illness or injury. Able to makedetermination regarding patient status, establishes priority for emergencycare and renders appropriate emergency care. Able to interact in aprofessional manner with other personnel and ancillary services with thepatient's best interest in mind. Able to speak clearly and persuasively inpositive and negative situations. Able to listen and recall information. Ableto function in unpredictable and changing circumstances. Able to communicateclearly verbally, in writing, and using electronic media. Able toproblem-solve. Knowledge of paramedic and first-responder protocols,policies and procedures.
