Swanson Rink Is currently hiring for a Fire Protection EngineerUnder general supervision, performs engineering design in the specializedfield of fire science, protection and prevention. Responsibilities willinclude fire sprinkler design, fire alarm design, smoke modeling andhydraulic modeling. Works closely with Project Managers, Project Engineersand Senior Engineers.Essential Job ResponsibilitiesApplies standard techniques and procedures in the design of fire sprinklersystems, including hydraulic analysis, drawings and specifications forsystems in commercial buildings.Provides design of fire alarm systems to produce bid and constructiondocuments including drawings and specifications.Interfaces and provides direction to CAD/Design staff to produce permitdocuments in 3 Dimensions using AutoCAD CAD MEP or Revit.Requires a working knowledge of the International Code Council codes andNational Fire Protection Association Standards and Guidelines.Requires the development of a working knowledge of local codes in multiplejurisdictions across the western United States to support specific projectefforts.Creates smoke removal and rational analysis reports and performs requireddesign calculations.Job QualificationsBachelor of Science degree in fire protection engineering from anABET-accredited four-year college or university and two years' experience inthe areas of fire protection and fire alarm system design.Certification as an EIT preferred.CompetenciesBuilding fire codes and standards.National Fire Protection Association Standards and GuidelinesFire Control and Suppression SystemsManual and Automatic Fire Alarm SystemsFire Detection SystemsComputer generated smoke modeling softwareFire suppression system computer generated hydraulic calculation softwareDisplays proficiency in use of word processing and spreadsheet software, andcomputer assisted engineering and design software to perform engineering tasksAble to apply theoretical knowledge to achieve cost-effective, constructibledesign solutionsAbility to communicate clearly and effectively; to express ideas; to shareinformation; and to prepare clear, well-organized correspondence,reports and similar documents.Developing ability to make presentations to clients, and/or in front of groupsDemonstrates ability to resolve conflicts effectively and to develop creativeproblem-solving strategiesKnowledge of fundamental business principles and practices, e.g.,chargeable versus billable time, invoicing procedures, chargeableexpenses, cost versus billing rate and profit marginsMust be authorized to work in the United StatesEEO/AA - M/F/Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities Employer
