Responsibilities

At the entry level of this position, you will:

  • Interpret policy and procedures, provide advice and guidance, and assist in analyzing, classifying and interpreting a wide variety of financial transactions which are typically unrelated.
  • Perform financial reviews, reconciliation, compilation, and summaries of cost documentation for of Superfund State Cost Share (SSC) Agreements/activities.
  • Serve as the Regional Financial point of contact for SSC agreements and work directly with Headquarters and regional program and budget staff on financial issues related to SSC.
  • Serve as the regional liaison and point of contact with the Cincinnati Finance Center and Region 8 concerning accounts receivables and perform quarterly audit of accounts, disseminates information, identify deficiencies, troubleshoots problems, and make recommendations for corrective actions.

This position is designated as Moderate Risk and requires a background investigation. Unless an appropriate background investigation is already on record with the Office of Personnel Management, you must undergo a background investigation.

You must meet time in grade requirements no later than 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

You do not need a degree to qualify for this position.

We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:

To qualify for the GS-09 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-07 level defined as analyzing financial transactions for financial issues using accounting principles, concepts, and/or theories; communicating with various internal/external customers regarding budget or financial items; and preparing financial reports. - OR master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related; degree in an academic discipline related to this position.

To qualify for the GS-11 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-09 level defined as performing financial reviews and reconciliations for organizations with multiple accounting structures and/or appropriations; preparing financial reports; and recommending corrective action for financial discrepancies and/or deficiencies; - OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., in an academic discipline related to this position.
