Optum Endpoint Systems Architect in Denver, Colorado

The Endpoint Systems Architect is the technical leader of a strategic team that manages the Enterprise Endpoint systems for the organization. The architect leads the facilitation, analysis, design, and implementation tasks required for the development of core infrastructure and systems. This position is responsible for creating deliverables that help develop the endpoint infrastructure standards in order to enable business strategy and deliver targeted business outcomes.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement solutions to support and enhance the enterprise infrastructure standards across the enterprise.

  • Lead team in the planning and designing of architecture, strategy and roadmap of endpoint technologies in alignment with the organization s long-range technology vision.

  • Analyse, influence, and translate business requirements into architectural blueprints that align with our Enterprise technology vision.

  • Leads programs to drive technology innovation and investment in endpoint technologies including developing and presenting business cases to senior leadership.

  • Interacts with IT and business units across the enterprise to analyze, interpret, and document business, technical, budgetary and operational requirements.

  • Designs and implements operations processes with metrics to continually improve the quality of endpoint services.

  • Coach, mentor and collaborate with Engineers across multiple solutions to ensure that the technologies are secure, interoperate, connect appropriately and support the company vision and strategy.

  • Provides thought leadership by participating as a member on the enterprise architectural review board.

  • Develops and maintains processes to test & integrate new endpoint software and hardware enhancements.

Secondary Functions:

Perform other relevant job duties as assigned.

  • Tier 3 SME level operations support & guidance for high impact issues

  • Supports Information Technology knowledge management through documenting, maintaining, and improving standards and processes in assigned areas and assisting others to do so.

  • Provides support and maintenance in assigned area by responding to service requests and events logged in incident management and reporting system, maintaining contact with customers as needed.

  • Provides technical support and technical leadership for IT projects related to Endpoints.

Job Scope:

Job consists of unique and multi-dimensional work situations with regular variations from the norm. Job involves a high degree of complexity. Duties are performed independently with minimal supervision and work is verified sometimes by results. Decisions are made within established departmental guidelines, but also by using judgment for the best reasonable outcome. Position has high visibility to Senior Leadership and Executives through direct interaction and reporting. Errors in judgment or work performance could result in insufficient operation for the organization.

Specific Job Skills and Experience:

  • 8+ years of IT related experience demonstrating an increasing progression of responsibilities including work in systems design, technology selection, and team leadership.

  • 5+ years’ experience in desktop engineering and endpoint system management, design, architecture.

  • 3+ years’ experience in developing a vision and executing supporting roadmaps for business strategy.

  • Expert in the following functions of IT: Desktop/laptop/tablet/smartphone, operating systems, mobility, enterprise systems design, enterprise systems management, asset management, endpoint system security and best practices.

  • Expertise in Endpoint management supporting technologies including SCCM, Active Directory, Win 10 Modern Desktop, Azure, Hyper converge computing & VDI solutions (Citrix Xenapp, Nutanix etc.), Microsoft Intune, O365, Airwatch etc.

  • Experience in designing, deploying, and supporting the Windows 10 operating system using SCCM.

  • Possess strong project management, strategic planning, and communication skills.

  • Proven success and demonstrable ability to effectively communicate with and influence decision makers of all levels, including technology and business leaders

  • Proven success leading the development of architectural strategies and road maps for solutions that solve business problems, are scalable and sustainable, are secure, and meet internal long-term goals of IT and the business

  • Proven success building and fostering relationships, including success coaching and mentoring other architects and engineers

  • Broad and deep expertise of the end user technology industry, providers and design practices

  • Experience in Microsoft Azure Cloud computing platform is a plus.

  • Ability to perform a wide variety of tasks in a fast paced, high pressure, deadline driven environment

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline: or equivalent combination of technical training/ industry experience

  • Microsoft certifications including MCSE, Azure etc. required

  • Endpoint security experience & certifications a plus

  • ITIL Foundations preferred

Job Conditions:

Job requires hours that may exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week during times of peak activity. Evening meetings and/or weekend work sometimes required to ensure timely project completion. Moderate to high job pressure exists in the balancing of several projects with conflicting and sometimes changing deadlines. Physical capability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.

  • Travel up to 10%
