Covetrus is headquartered in Portland, Maine, with more than5,500 employees, serving over 100,000 customers around the globe.SUMMARYCovetrus is seeking a talented and highly motivated employment and litigationattorney to join our rapidly growing and fast-paced legal department.Primarily responsible to provide advice and counsel to management and HumanResource professionals on a broad range of employment law counseling andrelated litigation and transactional matters. Our ideal candidate would alsohave general litigation experience and would be able to manage our generallitigation portfolio, which includes typical commercial litigation anddisputes. We are looking for an attorney with both the flexibility to adapt tochanging priorities and organizational needs, as well as the ability tooperate independently in a fast-paced, small but growing environment andwork proactively with various teams across the organization, including thebusiness, technical, and corporate teams. The right candidate will besomeone with a great sense of humor who can roll up his or her sleeves andhelp us build a top-notch legal department.This is a full-time position andmay be based at the Covetrus headquarters in Portland, Maine, at theexecutive headquarters in Boulder, Colorado or with our finance center ofexcellence in Dublin, OH.Title, scope of responsibilities, and compensation will be dependent onexperience.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties maybe assigned.Work directly with VP, Senior Corporate Counsel and the General Counsel andother attorneys, paralegals, and support staff in providing legal adviceand risk mitigation across a broad range of employment legal matters(employee relations, terminations, discipline, wage and hourcompliance and disputes, investigations, leaves of absence,employment-related agreements/documents, harassment/discriminationissues, and disability/reasonable accommodations issues).Provide legal advice and service to management and Human Resourceprofessionals on employment practices and compliance-related matters.Utilize knowledge of the law and experience to analyze facts and situations toeffectively assess risk and make recommendations that are in the best interestof the Company.Provide employment law support for HR internal investigations, includingpartnering on strategy and witness interviews.Manage and oversee outside counsel (including global) handling employmentlitigation matters.Support and hold/preservation processes regarding employment-related legalmatters, including drafting of legal hold notices and related communications.Counsel and make recommendations regarding responses to employment-relatedsubpoenas.Represent company in employment matters in front of various federal, stateand/or local agencies, as well as in response to attorney demand letters.Make recommendations as to action needed, including recommendations ondiscipline, in connection with HR investigations.Monitor legislative developments to ensure continued compliance withnational, state, and local employment labor laws and regulations.Work with the compliance team to manage the Company's Ethics and Compliancehotline.Continuously develop understanding of legal risks and advise businessstakeholders accurately of legal and other risks associated with proposedactivities.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES.Dependent on scope of position and experience.QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEJ.D. from an ABA-accre
