Emergency Medicine Physician - Associate DOS /Medical Dir Clinical DecisionUnit (Job ID: 3548)Job SummaryThe Department of Emergency Medicine at Denver Health is recruiting anAssociate Director of Service (ADOS) to serve as Medical Director to a newClinical Decision Unit (CDU).This academic position will be responsiblefor leadership and oversight of a new protocolized 23-bed CDU designed toprovide the highest quality of care and patient experience toobservation-status patients. This unit will be directly adjacent to the mainemergency department, staffed with emergency medicine health care providersand nurses, and serve a critical role in our hospital's patient flow andclinical excellence.Denver Health is a large urban health care center that is proud to serve as aprimary Anchor Institution to the Denver metro area, and its diversecommunity. Denver Health is a major resource to thecommunity, serving approximately 185,000 individuals and 67,000 childrena yearThe emergency department (ED) at Denver Health includes a 44-bed adult EDwith an additional 13-bed adult fast track (under construction), and a19-bed pediatric ED and urgent care. The new 23-bed CDU is anticipated to openin June 2021. With a combined annual census of more than 100,000 patientsfrom highly diverse culture and backgrounds, the ED at Denver Health is thesecond busiest in Colorado. The Ernest E Moore MD Shock Trauma Center atDenver Health is the primary trauma referral center for the Rocky MountainRegion. Additionally, the acuity managed by the adult ED is high, with a25% admission rate. Staffing in the adult and pediatric EDs is provided byboard-certified emergency physicians, PGY 1 - 4 residents, emergencymedicine subspecialty fellows, and advanced practice providers.
