JOB SUMMARYThis position contributes to the day-to-day account operation of PERA'sretirement programs. Responsibilities include verifying, calculating, andauditing member account information for processing benefits according to legaland regulatory compliance standards. This position is also responsible forcommunicating information regarding the PERA defined benefit retirementplan, PERA's healthcare plans, and other PERA information to members inindividual counseling sessions.IDEAL CANDIDATEOur ideal candidate is a team player who is detail oriented with a stronganalytical aptitude. If you are an independent, self-starter with the ability tocommunicate effectively with a variety of people, this is a great fit.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Determines benefit program eligibility based on member tenure andcompliance with state and federal statutes and rules governing PERA. Performs defined benefit calculations including benefit estimates,service purchase agreements, retirements, and adjustments Utilizes analytical reasoning skills and proactive research methods toassist with and prepare for member interactions Explains benefit programinformation to members and retirees via in-office or out-of-office meetings,telephone, e-mail and/or written correspondence Manages multiple interruptions on a daily basis, while maintaining ahigh level of accuracy in work product Prepares reports and presents account information in a meaningful andlogical manner Utilizes active listening techniques and knowledge of state and federalstatutes and rules governing PERA to provide exceptional customer service Within established guidelines, investigates and resolves elevated issues Collaborates with staff and management in developing recommendations toresolve complex issues Responsible for member data entry, information retrieval, and mailings Participates in training and educational opportunities for ongoingprofessional development Maintains regular and prompt attendance in the workplace May be assigned to a process team in a specialty area such as disabilityor survivor benefits. Carries out other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS A combination of education and experience equivalent to 3 years ofinsurance and benefits administration Analytical and detail-oriented with an aptitude for math Effective interpersonal communication skills with knowledge of properEnglish usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation Demonstrated approach to handling sensitive and/or confidentialinformation Professional business demeanor strongly desired Ability to prioritize, organize and work with minimal supervision Capable of working successfully both independently and within ateam-focused environment Proficiency with Microsoft Office software Certified Retirement Counselor (CRC) designation or RetirementEnrichment Program certification within 3 years of completing new-hiretraining Ability to travel on a limited local basis as necessary for business needsWORKING CONDITIONS Standard office environment with daily computer and telephone use Occasional lifting, moving, or carrying materials and equipmentweighing in excess of 20 pounds Applicants must be available to work Monday through Friday 7:30-4:30and occasional Saturday morningsBENEFITSHealth Insurance is 100% employer paid, generous paid time off as well aspaid volunteer hours, PERA defined benefit plan, 401(k) and 457defined contribution plans, tuition assistance, certifications,on-the-job training, free access to on-site fitness center, free on-siteparking or RTD subsidy, and more.
