Akima Support Operations Maintenance Foreman (Base Operations) in Colorado Springs, Colorado
Position Summary:Reports to the Maintenance Manager. Supervises the maintenance and shopoperations of Garrison owned and operated equipment for DES(Fire/Police) and DPTMS (Range Control) areas of operation. Performsgeneral support efforts of intermediate maintenance in support of Non-Tacticalwheeled vehicles and General Support equipment. Equipment includesConstruction such as Graders, Dozers, Front Loaders, Dump trucks andSnow plows, Tractors, Lawn mowing machines, Fire Trucks, Civilianpick-ups/service trucks, and other support equipment assigned. Able todevelop Performance Standards, Process and procedures. Work Instructions,and SOP's. Counsel employees on performance and makes formal and informalappraMAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:1. Ensures established policies and procedures are effectively enforced.Controls shop maintenance to ensure maximum utilization of personnel assigned.Maintains the highest quality of workmanship equal to or exceeding Armystandards.2. Maintains control over requirements for parts and materials, utilizesand enforces supply economy and controls usage and care of Government parts,tools, and equipment.3. Provides, reports applicable to the maintenance operations in the formof daily, periodic, or special reports. Exercises control over preparationof required shop equipment, forms and records. Submission of exception timeaccounting and maintenance dates.4. Attends weekly maintenance meetings with the government and customers tobrief equipment readiness and priorities.5. Provides status of unit job orders to the Maintenance Manager, and Govt.counterparts. Advises on direct support/general support procedures.Performs other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.6. Provides technical assistance pertaining to operations, modification andmaintenance equipment. Plans and expedites equipment through the repair shops.7. Maintains surveillance over the operation to detect areas of injurypotential, unsafe acts or conditions and takes immediate action to correctunsatisfactory situations.8. Acquires data from the Global Combat Support System - Army (GCSS-A) tocreate maintenance plans, related maintenance tasks, and other requireddata. Experience working with Microsoft office.9. Performs other duties as required.MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:Automation tools; material handling equipment; test & diagnostictools, computer use to include operation of Microsoft excel and word programs.WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:Work is generally conducted in a shop environment. However, duties mayinvolve the conduct of work in the out-of-doors area with a potential exposureto extreme climatic conditions. Work will require lifting up to 50 lbs;stooping; climbing; prolonged standing; prolonged sitting; and workingwith or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical,chemical or biological agents. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) is required is certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limitedto head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearingprotective devices. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations andpublished Company work rules. Steel toe boots are required.FREEDOM TO ACT: Reports to the Maintenance ManagerMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Two year degree or equivalent work experience. Formal militaryor civilian training in equipment maintenance procedures.Experience: Five years, experience in equipment maintenance and supplyor equivalent combination of education and experience, with at least threeyears supervisory responsibilities.Must possess and continuously maintain a current State of Colorado Driver'sLicense prior to start date or by 30 days after employment.SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must be US Citizen to obtain and maintain a SECRETClearance and must receive favorable background and drug testing results.
