Job Description
General duties: Lead team of IT Services to support USSPACECOM, Colorado Springs, CO. As Information System Security Manager, manage all aspects of the government information assurance program, to include identifying IA requirements, personnel, processes, and procedures and implement and enforce all Air Force IA policies and procedures using the guidance within AFIs and applicable specialized IA publications. As IT system administrator, this position will be part of an IT customer service team that will operate, sustain, and provide logistical and general support for the IT services.
Specific duties:
Ensure all users have the requisite security clearances, supervisory need-to-know authorization, and are aware of their IA responsibilities (via IA training) before being granted access to Air Force Information Systems
Ensure all users receive IA refresher training on an annual basis; ensures IT is operated, used, maintained, and disposed of properly and in accordance with the IT’s security certification and accreditation (C&A) documentation as prescribed by AFIs
IAW AFIs, coordinate any changes or modifications to hardware, software, or firmware with the wing IA office and system-level Information Assurance Manager or Information Assurance Officer
Report IA incidents or vulnerabilities to the government chain of command and then, as required, to the wing IA office
In coordination with the wing IA office, initiate protective or corrective measures when an IA incident or vulnerability is discovered
Troubleshoot and fix IT systems failures and document them in a maintenance log
Develop reliability system upgrades for the government personnel review
Perform preventative maintenance which includes but is not limited to installation of: new software releases, system upgrades, and patches
Create/maintain server support documentation and operational guides for all required personnel
Test and evaluate new network hardware and software to determine compatibility with current systems
Provide consolidated help desk function/serve as government IT focal point for customer support. The consolidated help desk function shall be capable of handling the full range of IT-related issues
Other ISSM/IT duties as assigned
Serve also as Alternate Cybersecurity Liaison
Required Skills
ISSO and system administration experience, preferably with USAF NIPR, SIPR and JWICS
Customer service focus with help desk like experience
Physical and virtual server experience
Projection and VTC experience
Active TS/SCI security clearance/Eligibility for Special Access Program (SAP)/Special Access Required (SAR)
Required Experience
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology IT or engineering preferred; Level of education may be substituted for years of experience
Training and certifications:
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Maintain required IA Workforce Management training according to DoD 8570.01 in order to effectively supervise the organization’s IA program
Years of Experience:
- 4-6 years of experience with Information Assurance and customer focused system administration
