Location/Division Specific Information
This position is based in Colorado Springs, CO. It reports through the FSI (Field and Safety Instruments) business unit as part of the CAD (Chemical Analysis) Division. Minimal amounts of travel may be required.
How you will make an impact:
Provide technical engineering support and expertise to production product, processes and equipment for both new and existing value streams. Includes applying LEAN principles to optimize site operational costs and product quality in support of business metrics.
What you will do:
Design product and components that are easy to use, simple to produce and practical to maintain.
Document part designs, assembly processes and theories of operation to support manufacturing and future design.
Establish new manufacturing processes and continuously improve existing processes to improve product quality and cost.
Collaborate with Engineering team to ensure smooth transition between design phase and production of new products and processes
Implement lean manufacturing process in a production environment. This includes both manufacturing processes and supporting activities, such as purchasing, materials handling, planning, etc
Drive Practical Process Improvement to generate savings and support business needs
Champion continuous improvement in all aspect of the business to reduce waste and increase safety, quality, and efficiency
Drive standard work in the form of SOPs, Manufacturing Instructions, Leader Standard Work, etc.
Facilitate sourcing opportunities and savings through vendor identification and selection
How you will get here:
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics required with 5 years of experience, Master preferred with 2 years of experience within a manufacturing envirorment.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Solid understanding of math and physics
Proven track record of driving projects to completion
Effectively communicate project goals to management and peers
Familiar with LEAN MFG, the 5S's, Kaizan
Familiar with high vacuum principles
Experience with high voltage (10kv) a plus
Basic programming knowledge
Workshift:
Monday-Thursday 4/10 schedule.
