The Origination Team Leader willprovide essential leadership and development capabilities to high performingterritory teams which exemplify the skills needed to enable customerprofitability. In this role, you will develop sales and grain origination planslinked to the overall strategy for the business, drive results through buildinga high performing team, and ensure that sales and marketing processes and toolsare implemented consistently and continuously improved. You will thinkstrategically, engage, and inspire the team and be equipped to develop ourtalent.


  • Set team and individual goals and develop thecapabilities needed to deliver strategy linked to the utilization ofcustomer segmentation information and the overall business strategy;leading and driving the coaching and accountability needed to achieve teamand individual goals, developing the six critical origination capabilitiesneeded to deliver on our strategy and linked appropriately to our customersegmentation, and motivating and engaging our talent, with a focus onlinking team and individual purpose to our vision of enabling farmerprofitability.

  • Drive collaboration across other functions, notablymerchandising, customer service and operations, to deliver on ourstrategy. Partnering with regional merchants to create value for ourcustomers while driving profitable origination growth for Cargill, drivingeffective and transparent communication flows across origination andmerchandising with respect to competitive intelligence, local marketinsights, and customer needs and driving a team based approach withcustomer service and operations job families to deliver an efficient andeffective customer experience

  • Understand distinct customer segments and needs, valuepropositions designed for each segment and drive effective and consistentutilization of sales processes that maximizes the utility of our customersegmentation to appropriately identify needs and deliver value. Deepunderstanding distinct customer segments and needs, deep understanding thevalue propositions designed for each segment and driving effective andconsistent utilization of Cargill Agricultural Supply Chain North America(CASC NA) origination/ sales processes that maximizes the utility ofour customer segmentation to appropriately identify needs and delivervalue

  • Maintain a view of the talent needs within theterritory and work jointly with senior leaders in the business on a talentstrategy and a succession plan that aligns with the overall talentstrategy of the business.

  • Partner on the development of regional and territorylevel sales and origination strategies to achieve business level operatingplans for the fiscal year, incorporating best practices to driveperformance across the entire national sales and originationteam. Share and consider best practices within the Regional OriginationLeadership team and with Origination Team Leader’s from other regionsto drive performance across the entire nationalsales and origination team.

  • Lead and develop a team, coach, and make decisionsrelated to talent management, hiring, performance, and disciplinaryactions.



  • Bachelor’s degree in a relatedfield or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of four years ofrelated commercial or sales experience

  • Minimum two years of directleadership experience or influential leadership of teams

  • Ability to travel up to 50%


  • Ability to lead and thinkstrategically, engage and inspire teams to be high performing, coach anddevelop talent, and drive execution and performance at a team andindividual level

  • Ability to adapt quicklychanges in the business and customers, adjusting to changing markets andtechnology

  • Strong commercial and financialacumen and the ability to develop this with their teams

  • Ability to position teams toidentify customer needs and deliver value proportionally to enableprofitable growth for customers and Cargill

  • Strong communication skills andthe ability to develop story telling capabilities with their teams forvalue positioning with customers
