Oracle Principal Software Developer (JoinOCI) in Broomfield, Colorado

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience.

The Operations Support Engineering team is building new services that empower Oracle to provide customers with the experience they deserve. The team is responsible for reporting availability and quality of services to generate a feedback loop that continuously improves all cloud services. The engineering team builds tools to enable Operations Support to respond to incidents and customer issues quickly and efficiently. Operations Support Engineering provide data analytics to arm leadership with the information necessary to chart the right path for the organization. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with best in class cloud infrastructure, platform and application experience.

/Job Responsibilities:/

As a Consulting Member of Technical Staff you will own the software design and developmentfor multiple major components of Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure. You should be a rock solid coder, a distributed systems generalist, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low level systems, as well as design broad distributed system interactions. It is important that you are able to take an ambiguous business problem and define and implement effective solutions. You should be comfortable building consensus on architecture across a large organization. You will oversee design, development and operations practices across multiple software teams. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. You need to be deeply invested in understanding the customer experience and creating customer empathy across the organization.

Candidate Profile:

• 8 - 14 years experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.

• Strong knowledge of C, C or Java, and experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, etc.

• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed

systems fundamentals.

• Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.

• Strong understanding of databases, storage and distributed persistence


• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.

Top 3 skill sets / technologies in the ideal candidate:

  1. Software Engineering experience with distributed systems within large scale environments

  2. 8 - 14 years experience working on challenging issues with a self-starter / self-motivated attitude.

  3. Strong operations and ownership and a demonstrated ability to build consensus and improve the operations standards across teams.
