As a clinical employee for Boulder Community’s Homecare Department, which serves young, middle aged, and older adults, the Quality Improvement Nurse is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of all quality initiatives and the utilization review activities for the department.
Education or Formal Training
Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.)Current license to practice as an RN in the State of Colorado.

BLS certification required by the end of conditional period.
Valid driver’s license and auto insurance as required by state law.
Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations, JCAHO standards for Home Care accreditation.
Demonstrates clinical expertise in specialty area of Home Care.
Understanding of quality improvement, and utilization management techniques and standards.
Problem-solving skills with ability to deal with multiple problems simultaneously.

Prefer 3-5 years home care experience with Medicare-certified, Joint Commission-accredited agency.
Broad clinical background.
Minimum one-year experience with utilization review, quality improvement activities preferred.
Working in patients’ homes in varied conditions of cleanliness, clutter or safety.
Occasional animals in home or yards.
Possible exposure to infectious diseases.
Driving in all weather and terrain conditions.
Must be able to lift/transfer patient (up to 200 pounds) who can assist.
Must be able to change locations throughout the day (both endurance and ability).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit.
The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 pounds, frequently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for example, moving a patient from a bed).
Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching.
The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch.
The employee may work in office environment with prolonged periods of sitting.
