Boulder Community Hospital Exercise Physiologist - Boulder Heart in Boulder, Colorado

Full Time, Days.

Starting rate of $20.42 per hour, additional consideration based on years of experience. A differential is provided for flexibility associated with scheduling.

Provides direct patient care in the Boulder Heart and Cardiopulmonary departments under the direction of the Cardiac Services Director. Assumes responsibility and accountability for performing all phases of cardiac testing and delegated patient care duties for inpatients and outpatients with Cardiology provider supervision.


Education or Formal Training

  1. Bachelor's degree in a health science related field.

  2. Completion of a formalized nursing, allied health program, or one year of practical experience preferred

  3. Training and experience with cardiac invasive, non-invasive, stress testing, holter monitoring, EKG, and direct patient care preferred.

Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.)

  1. BLS certification required within 90 days.

  2. ACLS certification required within 90 days

Knowledge, Skill and Ability

  1. Demonstrates knowledge of all phases of non-invasive cardiovascular testing in Doppler, exercise stress testing, nuclear stress testing, EKG, therapeutic inpatient and outpatient monitoring,

  2. Demonstrates knowledge of basic EKG interpretation.

  3. Demonstrates knowledge of the various types of equipment used for cardiac diagnostics and patient care with the ability to troubleshoot associated technical problems.

  4. Demonstrates the ability to provide patient safety.

  5. Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology.

  6. Demonstrates computer skills.

  7. Ability to work well with all customers: coworkers, hospital staff, physicians, patients, family members, provider office personnel, and sales representatives.


One year experience with non-invasive cardiac testing in an inpatient or clinic setting preferred.


Materials and equipment including and not limited to: 12 lead EKG, monitors (holter and event monitoring,), pulse oximeters, IV supplies, stress test protocols, software and treadmills, vascular and physiological monitors, patient prep supplies, wheelchairs, computers, software applications, telephone, beepers, copy machine, fax machine, patient records.


  1. Physical working environment may include but not be limited to any of the following hazards; chemical, electrical, mechanical, bio-waste, explosive, radiation, stress, back strain, body fluids.

  2. Environmental conditions may include by not be limited to variations in temperature, noise, odors, multi-stimuli.

  3. Ability to perform duties while frequently standing and walking for long periods of time.

  4. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push up to 150 pounds of testing equipment to other locations within the hospital.

  5. Ability to use the following senses to complete essential duties: speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch.
