The Department of Psychiatry has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) WBH Care Coordinator Position.

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, one of four campuses in the University of Colorado System, is the major academic medical center in the Rocky Mountain region. The Department of Psychiatry is one of the largest units in the UCD-SOM and is comprised of 5 Divisions. The Department currently has approximately 475 paid appointments. In addition, the department has 371 clinical faculty members, 125 regular faculty from Affiliated Hospitals (i.e., Denver Health, National Jewish, VA), and 94 faculty with secondary/adjoint appointments in Psychiatry. The University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry has just welcomed their new Department Chair, C. Neill Epperson, MD and is in the process of growing the Department of Psychiatry with new programs and expanding existing programs.

Job Summary:

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus seeks a Clinical Navigator/Behavioral Health Triage Coordinator (full-time, University Staff/non-classified) within the Department of Psychiatry- Women’s Behavioral Health & Wellness Program. Clinics are located at Fitzsimmons building Aurora Colorado at the School of Medicine. Programs in the various clinics include traditional outpatient treatment, integrated health services, telepsychiatry, and community services. These programs contain services in specialty services for Women going through Cancer Therapy, Menopause, integrated behavioral treatment in women’s health as well as specialty care for women across the life span with physical, mental health and psychosocial concerns.

This position will report to and serve under the supervision of the Clinic Operations Manager at CU. This Behavioral Health Triage Coordinator will report to and serve under the supervision of the Clinical Operations Manager as well as the Director of the Women’s Behavioral Health & Wellness (WBHW) Service Line. This position is responsible for managing various aspects of patient and administrative duties of the clinic. The Triage Coordinator responds to all persons and UC Health and CU Medicine providers requesting assistance with behavioral health services on campus or in the community. The Coordinator facilitates appropriate referrals to providers in the WBHW Service Line as well as outside resources across Colorado based on the nature of the problem.

Clinic Hours:

  • MONDAY 8am-8pm, TUESDAY 8am-8pm, WEDNESDAY 8am-8pm, THURSDAY 8am-5pm, FRIDAY 8am-5pm)

Examples of Work Performed:

  • The Coordinator facilitates referrals to providers in the WBHW Service Line as well as to outside resources across Colorado based on the nature of the problem.

  • Compiles and analyzes data and prepares documents that comply WBHW, Department of Psychiatry, UC Health and CU Medicine standards for reporting of patient encounters.

  • Maintains daily log and accurate reports of all incoming and pending intake calls and referrals.

  • Maintains a good working relationship and ongoing communication with referral sources.

  • Collaborates with clinic personnel and medical staff to ensure optimal patient care.

  • Promotes a positive working environment and guest relations.

  • Promotes safety by attending mandatory in-services and complies with all safety measures initiated by the facility.

  • Participates in WBHW team meetings, educational offerings, complies with all department and clinic policies and procedures.

  • Assists with administrative aspects of educational and therapeutic groups for patients, maintains communication with Clinic Manager, WBHW Program Directors, providers, staff and department leadership.

  • Assist the Clinical Manager, Team Leads, WBHW Program Directors and staff to ensure clinic’s smooth daily operations.

  • Other duties as assigned by Clinic Manager, Program Directors, and Providers.

  • Actively establishes and maintains lines of communication with clinic staff, providers, patients, external stakeholders, community partners and other relevant entities in a prompt, concise, and accurate manner.

  • Coordinate, lead, participate in, and/or contribute proactively at stakeholder meetings.

  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in social work, psychology, counseling, human services or a closely related field

  • One (1) year of professional level experience in direct clinical experience setting providing behavioral health care coordination in an outpatient/inpatient setting

Substitution: A combination of education and related experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific 1 year of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Epic experience preferred

  • Awareness and knowledge related to health insurance plans, patient billing and collections preferred

  • 2 years of professional level experience in direct clinical experience setting providing behavioral health care coordination in an outpatient/inpatient setting

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates clinical and ethical professionalism, trauma informed care and critical thinking skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of mental health counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and, which includes the ability to check for typographical, grammatical and spelling errors
