Job Summary:

The Department of Clinical Immunology, ClinImmune Labs has an opening for a full-time Professional Research Assistant to work at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. Primary responsibilities include receiving and processing umbilical cord blood and as well as allogeneic and autologous apheresis products from adult stem cell donors for transplantation, preparing allogeneic and autologous apheresis products for infusion and assisting nurses during infusions, grow mesenchymal stem cells from umbilical cord tissue, completing scientific assays for quality determination, working in a clean room environment, performing scientific calculations and data entry, and completing detailed paperwork throughout all processes. This position is in support of and will provide the clinical services for various research and clinical projects. This position’s responsibilities are critical in order to conduct research and include reviewing cord blood characteristics and supplying to internal and external researchers, participating in multiple research protocols, and performing scientific assays to acquire data for a federally sponsored project. This position determines donor eligibility and releases units for investigational research to discover the effectiveness of drugs on multiple disorders. This position also banks units clinically for use in bone marrow transplantation and related research studies.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Receive and process umbilical cord blood and as well as allogeneic and autologous apheresis products from adult stem cell donors for transplantation.

  • Prepare allogeneic and autologous apheresis products for infusion and assisting nurses during infusions.

  • Grow mesenchymal stem cells from umbilical cord tissue.

  • Complete scientific assays for quality determination.

  • Work in a clean room environment.

  • Perform scientific calculations and data entry.

  • Complete detailed paperwork throughout all processes.

  • Conduct research and include reviewing cord blood characteristics and supplying to internal and external researchers.

  • Participate in multiple research protocols and performing scientific assays to acquire data for a federally sponsored project.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring rate ( or budgeted rate) for this position has been established at $60,000.

The above salary rate represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with biological coursework required.

  • Flexible work schedule including nights and weekends will be required.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience, preferably in a laboratory or healthcare environment is highly desired.

  • Cell culture experience is highly desired.

Competencies/Knowledge, Skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge of biology and good laboratory practices.

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
