Nature of Work:
Pediatric Cardiology Instructor position (full-time, 100% appointment) within the Department of Pediatrics, Section of Cardiology.
In collaboration with other disciplines, organize and direct patient care responsibilities for patients and families during all phases of the heart transplant process. Patient care responsibilities conducted in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Exercise independent decision-making related to clinical management of patient population, as well as, provide comprehensive case management for a group of primary patients.
Exercise leadership in managing plan of care including current and ongoing needs for patients in all phases of heart transplant process.
Assume on-call responsibilities (during work hours and off work hours) for heart transplant team.
Examples of Work Performed:
Comprehensive case management responsibilities for a primary patient assignment.
Staff outpatient heart transplant clinic: perform history & physicals; patient/family education; establish and execute patient plan of care; care coordination.
In collaboration with other disciplines, coordination of inpatient care of heart failure and heart transplant patients in all phases of transplant process.
Perform consults for heart failure and heart transplantation.
Provide education to patients/families on the heart transplant process.
On call responsibilities: triage calls from patients/families; triage calls from inpatient care team on inpatient heart transplant patients; coordinate the admission of a patient for heart transplantation; during heart transplant be liaison for family to provide education and support.

Advanced practice provider: Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner; Certified Family Nurse Practitioner; Certified Nurse Practitioner; Physician Assistant Certified;Acute Care Certification
Current Advanced Provider Colorado License
Current Certifications in Basic Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support
Minimum 3 Years’ Experience in Pediatric Healthcare
Prescriptive authority or eligible for certification
Conditions of Employment:
Must successfully pass a 10-panel drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex-offender background check
- Experience in Pediatric Cardiac Care, Pediatric Heart Transplantation and/or Pediatric Critical Care
Ability to multitask
Critical thinking skills
